Prepare Your Singing Voice

Mr. Smith's Piano Bar
3104 M Street
202-333-3104

Definitely gets the vote for one of the most creative bars in the DC area. Mr. Smith’s is a piano bar and every Wednesday, Thursday, Friday and Saturday the king of sing-a-long, John dazzles us with his wide array of well known tunes.

Small interior that gets crowded quickly. Great drink specials including Beer of the Month and Stella Thursdays. Most mixed drinks are about $5 and if you’re lucky enough to get it served in a signature Smith’s cup consider pocketing the glass. The bartender is friendly and surprisingly quick even though he’s the only one behind the bar. The waitress, while nice to have, doesn’t get any points for pleasantness.

The crowd is mixed although this is certainly not the place to come if you’re looking for a hot hook-up. A lot of business people and definitely an older crowd although you can always find a group of enthused college students. Dress is casual at best and oftentimes pretty dowdy.

This is not the place to dance or mingle. However, if you’re looking for a fun place to go with a good group of friends and you aren’t shy about your singing voice Smith’s is the place to jam.
